An acid etched aquatint on zinc plate, this dog struck me as it stood peacefully in the water listening to the sound of rain drops slowly building up to a summer shower. A tranquil moment in The Vale of Health pond on Hampstead Heath, London. Quite an elderly dog he nevertheless was out enjoying a walk and swim on a sunny summer’s day. To me it was a meaningful moment about taking the time to enjoy life and the simple pleasures while we can. Choosing to represent this moment in a strong monochrome way and conveying the feeling of a long summer’s day drawing to a close with a cooling and welcome shower.
A companion piece to ‘Summer Showers’.
